Who invented the first printing machine and when?

The first documented and widely accepted version of a printing press was built by German Johannes Gutenberg in 1450. He based his design on a monastic screw press, also known as a "rock hammer." (1) A rock hammer is a type of screw press that subjects pressure to paper or cloth using heavy rocks or blocks. Gutenberg took this tool and applied it to letters instead. However, he started with metal type—a key part in early printer history.

In the Middle Ages, printing was considered as a miracle of science. For some time, it was a completely unknown invention. And then, one day, all people became aware of the existence of printer machine, who had already existed for hundreds of years. The Gutenberg family was originally from Mainz in Germany. When Johannes Gutenberg was young, he worked as a goldsmith and then a goldsmith apprenticeship ended when he was about 30 years old. After his apprenticeship was over, he decided to become a master craftsman like his father and grandfather. He had some other ideas that were not liked by everyone around him. People didn't really want to hear his opinion or even see his face at all because they believed that he is not good enough to be a master craftsman.
